Missing work

Ok, so today, I missed work. I am typically one of those people who will always come to work but today, I gave in. I knew I was getting burned out with the hustle and bustle of the commute, work itself, and so on but I kept pushing myself until finally, I gave in.
I always feel guilty when I take off as I do today but I also feel like it was a much needed break. Every now and then we all need a break. We need time to rejuvenate, to get perspective, and to clear our head.
Well, I feel more determined to change my situation. I absolutely hate my job. I feel I've outgrown it and I recently achieved my MBA and I'd like to put it to good use.
But until then, it's back to the drawing board tomorrow!!!

Burned out!

what a saturday! I think sometimes we try to juggle so much into the weekend because of the long work week. As a result, by the time it's Sunday evening, we realize how exhausted we are and dread the start of the work week.
Afterall, we work more than we play so it's no wonder we try to put so much into the weekend.Often times, I find that I have so many outings planned that I don't make time to do household chores so I'm constantly trying to find that balance.

But I guess I need to realize that balance for me is different than it was when I was single. I mean life was less stressful and perhaps, balance for me was easily achieved because I had more downtime. And often times, I found myself lonely or bored.
So, now with a family, (it's my fiancee' and our daughter who will be two in May) it's a different type of balance...which I define as not feeling burned out! I'm often trying to juggle so many activities into the weekend that at the end of the day, I feel like I've gone through a marathon....

More later!

10 things I hate about the 9to5grind

10 things I hate about 9 to 5 Jobs....

1. not much flexibility

2. Most things happen during the time you're at work..(e.g. need to make an appointment for the doctor, 9 times out of 10, the only time they'll have available is the time you work).

3. the commute (ooh, I can't stand this!, especially when you have little ones to get ready! You definitely feel the rush!)

4. Lack of freedom (lack of ability to reinvent the wheel!)

5. work week is too long (can we say, let's make it a four day work week!)

6. too much time away from kids (maybe not for school age kids, but definitely the little ones).

7. During the weekend, you try to cram everything in (and why not this is typically your only downtime)!

8. lack of stability (Let's face it, jobs aren't typically as secure as they were in the past...how many people have faced a layoff as of recent???)

9. often enables you to have a balance at home (let's face it, when you have a family, it's a job within itself).

10. personalities!!!!! (I am sure we all have experience annoying folks at work whether it's a boss or simply a co-worker)!
